He Survived A 28ft Fall

It was a normal day in Joplin, Missouri around 1988. My Mom told us kids we were going to go by Dad's job like we did so often. At that time Dad was a brick layer mason.

It was the days before the cell phones so that was Mom's way to check on Dad and talk to him.

When we arrived on the job site I remember my uncle coming toward our car with a frightened look on his face. My Mom very dramatically said, " What happened, what's wrong? " My uncle replied, "It's Dale, he fell off the roof and has been taken to the hospital by ambulance." He told her how he stayed behind where he could let her know what happened.

Of course obviously my Mom went hysterical, but she started crying out to God. Us kids were so scared crying and praying as well.

We arrived at the hospital a few minutes later only to see the doctors and nurses rushing by with dad on a stretcher unconscious with tubes up his nose and hooked up to machines. There was blood everywhere, it looked so bad and they wouldn't let my mom come near.

What had actually happened as described by the witnesses was that Dad was on a 28 ft. roof, slid off backwards, hit the bed of a truck on the side against his back below, then landed in a pile of bricks.

At the hospital the doctors immediately ordered x-rays and began treating him as if every bone was broken in his body, they cut off his clothes. Somewhere in that process my Dad woke up and was not too happy about not having clothes. Here he was like he was, but insisting on being covered:)

Friends and family everywhere was spreading the word asking for prayer for a miracle.

My Dad was pastoring a church in Joplin, Mo (a very faithful man of God) so we just believed God was not through with him.

Since he was conscious and awaiting results they let us come and see him. They told him absolutely no food or drink because there could be serious internal injuries. Being a hearty eater he didn't like that too much. His buddy Russel brought him a BBQ sandwich that he quickly gobbled up before the nurse came in. It was so funny when she came in he had BBQ sauce all over his face and hands, She was not too happy needless to say, but Dad sure enjoyed it:)

After all the tests were run the doctor came in confused, yet smiling. The doctor said Dad didn't have one broken bone in all of his body, only some cuts, bruises and sore muscles. He actually had ordered a second x-ray because he didn't believe the first. He told Dad that he had seen two other men that had fell that day (one of them from only 6ft) neither had fell near as far as Dad. He said that one of the men was paralyzed and the other man was going to have his face reconstructed. Hearing that made us realize just how serious this could have been, even fatal. After some observation Dad was sent home and soon after back to work strong as ever.

We all just praised God for hearing our prayers and sending a miracle, saving his life!!!

Blessed

Prayer works!!!! God was not through with Dad, he since has pastored another church where lives were saved and touched. Two more children was added to our family, a total of 5 children.

Now all of us kids are grown and there is 15 grandchildren. Dad is still preaching and owns a construction business.

God has been good to our family and we have never regretted trusting Him. He don't always keep us from the trial, but He's faithful to bring us through them.
